Gympie Carcass Classic


The inaugural Gympie Carcass Classic was held in 1987 to educate beef producers in changing consumer trends, meeting target market specifications and the industry trend towards grain finishing beef.


The ongoing success of the Gympie Carcass Classic is attributed to the educational nature and knowledge transfer theme rather than the competitive environment of knowledge protection.


An integral part of this knowledge transfer is the live cattle and carcass assessment competitions where entrants need not be exhibitors. This encourages the involvement of not only the professional beef producers but new producers and school students - the red meat producers of the future.

2017 Gympie Carcass Classic

 Celebrating 30 years...


The 2017 Carcass Classic is currenlty open for nominations.  This year's competition will again consist of both a backgrounding and feedlotting phase.  There is a very large amount of interest in the 2017 Carcass Classic so prompt nominations are a must.

Well the numbers are in, and with 164 entries 2017 sees the 2nd largest competition numbers in the history of the Gympie Carcass Classic.  Induction Day went well with a large number of exhibitors, sponsors and supporters turning up to check out the competition.  The induction weights were taken on the 22nd of March and can be found at the link below.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the committee.  For photos taken throughout the competition, make sure to check out our Facebook page



Make sure you're at our Final Weigh Day on July 21st at the Gympie Saleyards.  The "Classic Four Jackpot' was not won last year, meaning the prize money will be $4000 this year - so make sure you're there to put in your assessment!  Also make sure you stop in and say hello to all of our Sponsors and trade exhibits on the day.
